Fancy Colors Score Big at Auctions

It was a good week for exceptional fancy colored diamonds, as a 12.11 carat marquise shaped fancy intense blue diamond was bought for 15.9 million US$ at Christie’s Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels auction, exceeding expectations. The successful sale of the top item and other diamonds in the first Christie’s live jewelry auction since the outburst of the COVID-19 pandemic, is confirmed in the Sotheby’s sale of two heart-shaped fancy colored diamonds, set in rings, one 4.49ct vivid pink, one 5.04ct vivid blue were sold as separate lots for a combined 18.6 million US$, both lots exceeding hammer price.
