Jeweler Now Takes Payment by Cryptocurrency

Antwerp-based Baunat has become one of the first diamond jewelry companies to accept payment by cryptocurrency.

Customers can now pay for their purchases online using Bitcoin, Ethereum and others.

Steven Boelens, the firm’s executive director, said: “Baunat has always been an early adopter when it comes to technology and in today’s economic climate it’s easy to see the added value of a payment technology that’s on the verge of exploding into the mainstream market.”

The company says it “does not take any position in cryptocurrency” but recognizes that using is at as a payment method is a “logical step”.

Baunat, founded in 2008, makes most of its sales online but also has showrooms in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Düsseldorf, Geneva, Hong Kong, Bombay, Nice, Paris, and Zurich.
