An online edition of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF) scheduled for June 22 to 24 will offer global buyers a comprehensive digital platform for network building, gems and jewellery trading and business-matching opportunities.

BGJF Virtual Trade Fair – a special 66th edition of the show – is in response to rising demand for online events amid the pandemic, according to organiser Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of Thailand.

“This virtual event ensures the fair’s ability to continuously provide trading opportunities for the gemstone and jewellery industry in the new normal,” noted DITP.

Thailand’s jewellery sector enjoys a sparkling global reputation as a major source of coloured gemstones and silver jewellery. Online shopping, which has become more prevalent during widespread lockdowns, further bolstered the popularity of Thailand-made jewellery.

DITP is aiming to extend this virtual success and offer local and international exhibitors and buyers an even bigger platform to do business online with the BGJF Virtual Trade Fair.

The digital event will offer business-matching opportunities with local companies that have longstanding ties with Hong Kong, which is one of Thailand's top trading partners. From January to March 2021, Hong Kong ranked as the country’s second largest exporter, clocking in an export value of US$238.14 million or 9.6 per cent of total exports, DITP data showed.

Known for their craftsmanship, attention to detail and product quality, alongside reliable services, Thai gemstone and jewellery manufacturers and suppliers are expected to unveil their latest collections at the digital fair.

Traditional and contemporary designs as well as innovative industry-related goods and accessories will also be offered.

Apart from coloured gemstones and silver jewellery pieces, buyers can also avail themselves of loose diamonds and pearls; fine jewellery; costume and fashion jewellery; jewellery parts; synthetic and natural stones; and jewellery packaging, machinery, equipment and tools.

“Thailand has many established and emerging jewellery designers and craftsmen whose creativity has been celebrated globally,” DITP remarked. “Apart from offering trendy products, they also specialise in custom-made jewellery at competitive prices using the best materials.”
