Tiffany & Co. Launches Engagement Ring for Men

Tiffany & Co., the iconic New York Jeweler, will launch its first-ever engagement ring collection for men. Since 1886, when Charles Lewis Tiffany introduced the solitaire Tiffany Setting, the simple six-prong design became an industry standard. While its wedding rings cater to both men and women, Tiffany has never designed an engagement ring specifically with men in mind—till today.

Tiffany, which reported more than US$4 billion in jewelry sales last year, was acquired in January by luxury giant LVMH for US$15.8 billion. Currently, engagement rings account for 26% of the company’s total revenue. In May, Tiffany will unveil the Charles Tiffany Setting, a collection of solitaire rings for men with sizable round brilliant and emerald-cut diamonds up to 5 carats set in platinum or titanium. The new setting positions the diamonds inset in the metal bands, so they appear subdued compared with the prong setting. The collection is a modern, bold, and structural alternative to the classic engagement ring.

The engagement ring collection is not the first time the brand decided to be more men-inclusive. In 2019 Tiffany launched its first-ever men’s collection, the Tiffany 1837 Makers collection, which included a wide assortment of pieces ranging from barware, bracelets, cuffs, necklaces, rings, and more. The brand’s foray into men’s engagement rings comes at a time where there is an increase in same-sex marriages and gender-fluid fashion.
